CAN I BUY MORE THAN ONE PROPERTY FOR TURKISH CITIZENSHIP?

After the new law published and the threshold for Turkish Citizenship through property investment decreased from 1.000.000-USD to 250.000-USD numerous applications made to Turkish Citizenship program. One of the most frequently asked question is “can I buy more than one property for Turkish Citizenship. The reason for this question can be (i) the client may already have 1 property in Turkey (ii) The client may wish to relocate Turkey and wish to use one property as house one for office (iii) the client may wish to purchase the second property for the parents or children. Whatsoever the reason the simple answer for the question can I buy more than one property for Turkish Citizenship is “yes”.  However, there are some nuances need to be careful. In this article, we will answer this question in a comprehensive manner.

What will be the value of the property for Turkish Citizenship?

There are several laws published on the acquisition of Turkish Citizenship through property investment. Therefore, based on the purchase date of the property the answer of the question differs.;

– The value of property purchased between 12.01.2017-18.09.2018 for Turkish Citizenship should be equal or more than 1.000.000-USD

-The value of property purchased after 18.09.2018 for Turkish Citizenship should be equal or more than 250.000-USD

What kind of property can I purchase for Turkish Citizenship?

In general, there is no restriction for the type of the property for Turkish Citizenship. Residence, office, house, land etc. any type of property can be purchased for Turkish Citizenship.

1- Mr. Ahmed wishes to obtain Turkish Citizenship through property investment as of 17.08.2020. He wishes to buy one house with the value of 125.000-USD and another house with the value of 150.000-USD. Can he get Turkish Citizenship through those investments?

The answer is yes. Because the amount invested by Mr. Ahmed is 275.000-USD. Such amount is sufficient for the acquisition of Turkish Citizenship after 18.09.2018. Additionally, there is no restriction on the number of property purchased for the acquisition of Turkish Citizenship by Investment.

2- Ms. Ayshe wishes to obtain Turkish Citizenship through property investment as of 17.08.2020. He wishes to buy one house with the value of 100.000-USD, an office with the value of 100.00-USD and a land with the value of 50.000 USD. Can she get Turkish Citizenship through those investments?

The answer is yes. Because the total amount invested by Ms. Ayshe is 250.000-USD. Such amount is sufficient for the acquisition of Turkish Citizenship after 18.09.2018. Additionally, there is no restriction on the number of property and the type of properties purchased for the acquisition of Turkish Citizenship by investment. Therefore, 1 house, 1 office and 1 land is possible.

3-Ms. Mahmoud wishes to obtain Turkish Citizenship through property investment He had already purchased a property on 15.05.2018 with the value of 200.000-USD. Now he is planning to purchase a property with the value of 75.000-USD. Can he make the citizenship application with those properties ?

The answer is no, because the value of the property purchased for Turkish Citizenship should be 1.000.000-USD before 18.09.2018.
